Staff Phased Retirement
In 2014, we piloted a Phased Retirement program for managerial and professional employees. Phased Retirement supports staff members transitioning into retirement, while allowing departments the ability to transition roles, responsibilities, and knowledge in a thoughtful manner. Based upon department and participant feedback we have made improvements and now will offer Phased Retirement as an ongoing program.
Generally, the Plan provides eligible staff a reduced work schedule over the course of two years, while maintaining benefit eligibility and providing a salary supplement.
At Yale, we offer an array of alternative work options and will continue to look for ways to enhance workplace flexibility.
